grateful

I am still amazed when I ask my daughter whether she minds if I don’t change back into male clothing to drop her off somewhere. This particular instance it was not going to be extra trouble for me to change back and, since I have always been afraid to expose family to Joanna, I still have trouble believing she is being genuine when she says she doesn't mind.

“Oh that, why would I mind?” she says matter of factly.

“because I know some trans people for whom that is a big problem and their family does mind” I respond

I raised my children to be tolerant of everyone and never thought that it would one day come back to benefit me. I suspect that one day for my son I might feel comfortable enough to do the same.

For that I am very grateful.
