not quite trans enough

This is going to happen more and more in these open times. Here is a young gay, feminine male who mistook his gender variance for being transgender. However, he left one important facet out: the presence of gender dysphoria which he does not suffer from. This bit of news dawned on him from watching a Blair White video who is herself a rather strident and opinionated transgender woman who happens to be correct in this rather important observation.

This young man now realises he is happy being a feminine male and all ends well with no harm done....

  1. I think his experience underscores what Dara Hoffman-Fox recommended in their book, that we gradually and patiently conduct reversible experiments to determine, a) are we trans, and, b) where are we under the transgender umbrella? It’s like following your feelings. If you’re feeling better, consider going further. If not, consider retreating.

That said he’s fortunate that he didn’t so far that his body and life are permanently altered. I suppose he embarked on a much grander experiment than most can, and so he learned a lot!

    1. I like the slow process of trying something out and seeing if you are happy then advancing to the next step. Once you are satisfied where you are then stop. Sounds obvious and yet not simple if you are not clear of mind or buy into other people's narratives...

  2. He seemed cool. And I suppose it’s good to know Blair White is helping someone people. (I admit, I have not watched a lot of her channel, but I haven’t liked what I’ve seen.)

Somehow it never ceases to shock me that people pressure others into being anything but what they are. Each of us is the sole arbiter of that which feels authentic within. All I ever want for anyone is to connect with that authenticity, and express it without fear of rejection or “what it means” or whether it conforms to expectations. No one should tell someone else that they SHOULD be trans. Support from the trans community should not stop once someone detransitions - it is a very brave thing to do, and a perfectly fine thing to do. We’re all on our own journeys.
