1. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music of the 20th century. It still has the power to bring me to tears every time I hear it. It ranks with Barber's Adagio for Strings as one of the most emotionally charged, and yet superficially simple, works in the modern classical repertoire. Ms. Vidovic more than does it justice here, although I still prefer the recordings by John Williams, who originally commissioned it for his own concerts in 1970. Guitarists I respect say that it is a bear to play.

    1. some people think she plays this a bit fast. I was drawn to the tonality of the notes and the expressiveness she brings to it.
