To err is human but to forgive divine which I think is a fit statement and goal. We might want to start with ourselves and let go of the self judgement that we carried over the years; we can perhaps forgive ourselves for our failings on the premise that we are only human. No one is more severe on ourselves than we are which in turn translates into an inability to forgive others. Otherwise we might be tempted to think: how dare they be so presumptuous.

When we give way to humility it results in shedding judgement of others as well as ourselves. Otherwise we may want others to share our burden instead of rightfully cheering them on.
