Tracy is a diminutive 4'9" and as self-effacing as you can get. She is a cat lady by her own admission and laughs easily and heartily. We see each other every morning at the same cafe and, despite her cheerful facade, I can tell she's lonely.

She tells me she's been called a leprechaun by kids and asked if sidewalks needed to be lowered for her by adults but she seems to take it in stride. For the last 15 years she has been sidelined with health issues related to her spine which at age 50 still leave her at the mercy of disability payments and subsidized rent.

Life is not easy for anyone and Tracy is just another fellow traveler on the journey doing her best to smile even when you don't always have reason or will to do so.
