Speed is everywhere. It is the way we live, the way we drive and the way we think (or perhaps don't). The engineering business I work in has changed to the point where I don't recognize it any longer. We do more work with less people but the quality we deliver for clients who are less educated than ever before is arguably inferior. Our young engineers are not the wiser since they have not seen the alternative. The bottom line is make money and do it will less people than before which implies overloading employees and risking burnouts which are increasingly common.

Our companies have become buzzword cults and our websites look like Facebook where we receive saccharine messages and posts. I am often dumbfounded and, if it weren't for the fact that I am on my way out, I would want to despair.
