That it takes so long

I was speaking with my friend Deanna this week and she reiterated that she had no choice but to transition. She had done her best, as many of us do, to reject what we saw as a burden until it could no longer be ignored and had to be dealt with head on. So many try everything to no avail until they maybe reflect on self harm or just not waking up the next day if we are fortunate. I know I've thought that myself many times.

That it takes so long to get to a stable place depends on many factors the most significant being the degree of refusal to accept this isn't ever going away despite our best efforts; this related to our ability to drink the Kool-aid. We finally stop pretending and try to find a formula that works so we can ultimately live in peace.
